Canada Day in London

We had an amazing day - Canada Day, no less, in London.  Began with a lovely full English breakfast made by our B & B host, Phil Martel.  Beautiful sunny morning, by the time we made the Tube to downtown London.
Landed in Piccadilly Circus, bright rather quiet, so hard to believe we were in London, England!! Found our Tour Bus, red double-deckers of the Original Tour London Sightseeing Co.  Peter, our guide, described many of the highlights as we passed.

Had a healthy lunch next to the Tower of London.  Did a river boat cruise on the Thames – Cockney chap named Anthony was our guide/boatsman – was difficult to understand but funny.

Went to Trafalgar Square – one of Bernie’s dream destinations since a teenager – the amazing part were the thousands of Canadians or want-to-be Canadians celebrating Canada Day in the square – there was Molson’s Canadian beer cans everywhere you looked.

Went on two more bus tours and learned so much history and saw many, many beautiful buildings.

Great numbers of Italian & Spanish soccer fans flooded Central London – final match tonight, Spain won UEFA over Italy 4 – nil. We got out of the city and back to Golders Green to a quiet Italian restaurant.  BUSY day but fantastic none the less.  More to follow ...
