A Day on the Town in Glasgow

Saturday we woke from a comfortable sleep, relaxing breakfast & ready for the day’s activities. On a coach tour of Glasgow, got a real feel for the old town (oldest remaining building from 1471) & new (post war). Learned that the Germans bombed most of the city off the face of the planet in WWII.

Had a glimpse into a very comfortable tenement build 1892 (which only held two when typically 10, 12 or more would live in one); then free time for the afternoon.

Explored the Merchant City district, lovely lunch (a wee bit of excitement just before we paid the bill – see the fire truck!!), walked under the Scotsmen’s Umbrella of Central Station, made our way west back to the Marriott.  Packed up for our flight tomorrow, prepared for our farewell dinner.

A fantastic meal at the Corinthian, finished with goodbyes to all to our newly made friends, Coach Tour B905 Country Roads of Scotland.  Hard to believe we covered over 1600 kms (1000 miles +) in just over a week. Sad it must end, but off on to new beginnings and new memories.
