We strolled along the river then toured Tower Bridge – walked
above the roadway on closed in walkways – saw the old stream piston - hydraulic
counter-balanced system that lifted the bridge which was opened in 1894 – now replaced with
electricity that drives the hydraulic system.
Had a quick walk through the National Gallery –
thousands of masterpieces. Simply breathtaking. Finished our day off with a British pub favorite, Steak and
Ale pie and a beer at the Golden Lion, just off Piccadilly Circus.
Busy day – back to B&B to pack as we are off to Edinburgh tomorrow.
More to follow …
Make sure Pius has a dram of some good scotch for me!
