Berlin to Salzburg, Austria

Started off the day with a solid breakfast, packed up & off to the S-Bahn train station. We had plenty of time to make the main Berlin station, off to Munich. Very comfortable train but we were worried about making our connection as the train was at times 30 minutes behind schedule (we only had a 10 minute window to make our next train). However, our conductor made up time (speeds up to 180 kmph) and we arrived in Munich with time to spare.

Munich to Saltzburg was very pleasant,
beautiful scenery all around us.  Had our first glimpses of the mountains.  Enjoyed our visit with Heidi from Nurnberg (another teacher!) talked about her travelling, about Canada and the world in general. Rolled into Salzburg, a bit lost walking to our hotel (one of those ‘you can’t get there from here’ situations). Settled in, skyped the girls.  Returned to Gasthof Weiserhof (we had passed it while we were ‘lost’ & Bernie insisted we try it for supper) for a superb meal and as we learned, one of the best spots in the city for authentic Austrian food.  Met Fabian & Gabriella (another teacher!!), had a lovely visit with them. They really knew lots about Canada & the West in particular.  We have been so fortunate to meet so many friendly, kind people in our travels.  Salzburg & Mozart tomorrow!

More to follow …
