Around Mykonos Island

Supper at the Seven Seas Restaurant on board the Olympia

Friday we awoke to a beautiful dawn view of the Parthenon. Packed up our suite, met by Savvas, who set us up for our cruise and stay in Santorini. Vasilis our taxi driver got us down to the port safely, (only hit speeds of 120 kmph!!) and well before 9 a.m. Bernie was just a tad bit excited.  As was Chris, despite what she might otherwise say.  Checked in, on board the MV Louis Olympia.  She was built in 1982, over 37,500 tons; 214 m in length, beam of 28 m, drawing 7 m of water.  Room on board for 1400 passengers with 700 crew members. We went up to look around the ship, Chris went through our itinerary while Bernie roamed around the ship.  First we had to attend a Life Boat drill. Then, the ship slipped her moorings, and we were off to Mykonos Island.  Down to our cabin (7000), unpacked and settled in.  We had a nice bit of sun, swam in the onboard salt water pool, followed by a very tasty lunch.  Later, a bit of tea and lots of pictures as we sailed along.  First impressions were wonderfully friendly, helpful and interested crew.  Happy, friendly passengers – met people from all over the world.  We mustered for our excursion to Mykonos Island.  Docked and bussed into town.  A very small, quaint little place.  We wandered around, shopped and saw the sights. Back to the ship at sunset, on board, changed and down for a lovely meal in the Seven Seas Restaurant, served by our new friends Ron (from Goa, India) & Rohan (Mauritius Island).  Ivette, Pablo, Sawan were other friendly crew members we met today, just to name a few.  Fabulous first day of our cruise.
