Saltzburg City

Nice start to the day, some puttering around and away we went on a bus tour of Saltzburg (driver Stephan & Tour Guide Tomas). What an incredibly beautiful city! Again, tons of history, beautiful buildings, breathtaking vistas, with the Alps as a backdrop. Tour was mostly German then English. Also included admission to Mozart’s home (lived there from 1773 – 1791) which we took advantage of. Really impressed with the number of authentic documents, scores & letters. An amazing person, larger than life.

Walked all around ‘Old Town’ Saltzburg.  We happened onto the funeral mass for Father Joseph Schreiner OSB (wow!). Sounds of amazing bell ringing filled the platz. We strolled back to hotel.  Then a rickshaw ride (Georg was a hoot!)  to a dinner & Mozart concert.  So wonderful to hear such moving music and to be here in Saltzburg where it all took place. Met very friendly people from New York; Fano, Italy; & Sydney, Australia. What a wonderful experience – a practically perfect day.   Off to Italy tomorrow!
