Travelled to Avebury then back to worship at Salisbury Cathedral

Today was so much fun. We travelled via a local bus company to Avebury where there were very large standing stones within multiple circles. At Avebury you are able to touch the stones whereas at Stonehenge you are not. We met a lovely lady, Vivian, from Sydney, Australia, that has been travelling on her own for two months. We joined forces & spent the day tramping around together So many pictures that hardy capture being in the presence of those ancient stones. Drinking lots of water - darn near 30C!!

Had a quaint little lunch where we switched buses in Devizes – an old English market town.

Returned to Salisbury in time to get to the Salisbury Cathedral, build between 1220 – 1265. Once again, so much history and grandeur. We attended a Eucharist service with an angelic youth choir accompanied by a massive pipe organ. It was a moving, haunting experience.

To cap off the day, we met up with Vivian for a relaxing meal at the ‘Slug & Lettuce’, shared stories of life, travelling & families. Found another real kindred spirit. A remarkable, memorable day.

Tomorrow we’re off to visit the West Coast of England, Bude. World renowned for surfing, stunning vistas & fabulous hosts (the Gavins).
